Happy to Be Living in Israel

Why I am Happy to Be Living in Israel

I am thanking God many times every day that I have the privilege of living in Israel. For sure with the current security situation life is not as smooth as usual, but still I don’t have to be afraid of being a Jew. I know that my enemy is unfortunately still living around me, but at least I can say proudly that this is my land and my heritage and nothing can take that away from me. God promised our forefathers Avraham, Yitzhak and Ya’akov and all generations after them this land forever and here we are to continue the chain. The greatest gift ever given. How can we say no? We can’t do. And since I am a continuation of our forefathers I say that God gave me the land of Israel and the privilege of living in Israel. Many Jews have failed to live in the promised land, they have tried but mainly failed because of the struggle with the evil inclination of materialism. But for me and my family there is no other home than Eretz Yisrael.

The War around Us

To say that I am not thinking twice before I leave home to travel either to Jerusalem or Be’er Sheva I would not be honest because at the moment we are at war with the Arabs. But as a proud Jew fulfilling God’s promise to his holy and chosen nation I do it. I am proud to live in the Biblical heart land, The Judean dessert where the Jewish history can be traced back thousands of years. I know that God protects me and my family all the time as it is written in the Torah: “A land that the Lord your God cares for. The eyes of the Lord your God are always upon it, from the beginning of the year to the end of the year.” (Deuteronomy 11:12) I have a biblical obligation to live here and protect it. If not for me, then for my children, grandchildren and all generations to come. This war doesn’t scare me away from protecting the eternal gift, the Land of Israel that I have received and been trusted with from God. God gave me the possibility not only to live in Israel but in an active way conquering and settling the land of Israel, which is a biblical commandment in itself. And I know that if I wasn’t able to tackle this challenge my Father in Heaven would never have put me and my family here. Thank you God for making us a part of this challenge, to live within the war zone.

What Other People Think

Not surprisingly many people don’t understand our decision to live in the Biblical Heartland. People are talking about not being responsible and it is dangerous for our children etc. etc. I don’t blame them, because most of them are happy with being able to more or less be able to live the same kind of life as they did in the darkness of Chutz La´aretz. Most people don’t make Aliya to fulfil God’s commandment in the highest way possible – to conquer and settle the land of Israel in a wordy sense, since living in an apartment in Tel Aviv, Beit Shemesh or Modi’in isn’t to settle the land of Israel in the highest way possible. Since it is to live here, but not to conquer the land in the same way. For sure you don´t always have to live in Judea and Samaria to fulfil the commandment and sometimes you can also live in an apartment. A lot of brave Jews are living in the eastern parts of Jerusalem surrounded by Arabs. They are struggling each day for Jerusalem to be the Jewish nation’s united and eternal capital. But the Jews of Judea and Samaria are making it possible for most of Israel to sleep quietly at night. We are the protecting shield that we always need.

Since most of you know, I haven’t been active on this blog for long time, but this blog post is written in memory of all the Holy Jews in Judea and Samaria that have lost their lives in the last terror wave starting during Succot and all their family members.

May we hear only good news!

Regards,

Eli
